Reduce plastic waste
Many people still have the habit of discharging plastic waste directly into rivers, lakes and seas, although plastic takes a long time to decompose, there are plastics that can last 100-200 years in the natural environment. While decomposing, the microplastics slowly disintegrate, becoming food for aquatic species, marine life and polluting the environment.
Imagine, then we eat fish and seafood from these water sources, which means that we eat all the microplastics in our bodies. Therefore, to save water and protect yourself, use as little plastic as possible, use it many times and do not discharge plastic waste directly into the natural environment.
Do not pour cooking oil directly into the sink
When cooking, there will be people who reuse batches of fried oil, re-fried many times or have expired cooking oil. These types of grease are very difficult to decompose and have a very high adhesion ability, so do not let such oil pour directly into the sewer or drain pipe. If they are not handled for a long time, they will form in patches in the wall of the sewer, obstructing and clogging the drainage pipes and making daily living water heavily polluted.
The best way is to collect all the excess oil in a glass bottle and then dispose of it in the right place, instead of flushing it straight into the sink or drain.
Limit cleaning chemicals
With detergents that must be used, such as dishwashing liquid, washing liquid, soap, choosing buying products with natural ingredients or making your own herbal washes from lemon, lime, soap … is also an action to protect the environment.
Similar to cooking oil, cleaning chemicals are very dangerous when they enter water sources. With expired cleaning chemicals, throw it in the trash instead of flushing it straight into the water. At the same time, should also limit the use of bleaching agents.
If you see someone discharge hazardous chemicals directly into a water source, notify your local authorities immediately to take action. Your silence will make water pollution worse.
Dont throw cigarette butts in the toilet
Throwing cigarette butts into the toilet is a habit of many people when smoking in the toilet. This habit is not only unhygienic but also extremely dangerous, because cigarettes contain countless harmful chemicals. The direct disposal of cigarette butts also clogs the drain pipe, but also creates conditions for bacteria to multiply because the chemicals in cigarettes cannot be decomposed in water.
Avoid using pesticides
Pesticides often include toxic substances that are difficult to break down. These toxins accumulate in the soil, seep into groundwater, and cause water pollution. Meanwhile, the use of pesticides and the disposal of pesticide wastes directly into the environment are also the main causes of surface water pollution. Except in the case of special pests, please minimize the use of pesticides in your garden to keep the water source clean.
6. Clean up trash
If you see someone littering near a water source, ask them to take it away for disposal. When you see trash on the floor, pick it up and throw it in the correct bin. Lets take the initiative to remind each other and work together to make the living environment a better place, so that our health is also more secure.
